i need to set up a technical training session covering?

i need to set up a technical training session covering midfield to attack please can anyone help ?

Hi Mark,

Could we have a bit more information about your team (age, ability) and what your objective would be? When you say midfield to attack do you mean passing the ball from the midfield players to your forwards?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex possibly looking at u16s i have to set this up for my level 2 formal assessment, and yes moving the ball from midfield to attack

Hi Mark,

to encourage your players to pass to your forwards you need to get your midfielders to look up and equally for your forwards to be making positive runs, calling for the ball.

A good starting point for this could be to start off your session with some simple passing and moving warm up exercises where players stand in a circle and have to call the name of the player they're passing to and then follow their pass - this will encourage communication and movement.

After this I would play a game and coach what you can see - there's no one size fits all solution but hopefully by observing your players in action you may be able to pinpoint an area for improvement (perhaps your side are not using the wings enough or players are standing still after they've passed the ball). Based on what you see you should then add conditions to the game to try and get your players to correct these weaknesses. For example, introduce a condition such as players must put a name on every pass or goals can only be scored from a pass from the winger.

The conditioned games section on this site has some good ideas you might like to try as well.

Hope this helps,
Alex
