Javelin throw teaching points

Javelin throw teaching points

Can anyone give me some insight into the movement stages when performing a javelin throw from a static position? I will be teaching this to children soon but my own knowledge of the technique and form of the javelin throw is very limited.

Start by getting your athlete to stand feet shoulder width apart, grip Javelin and raise holding arm straight up so you create a "T" with arm and javelin. extend free arm forward so it pointing away from the body and is level with shoulders, without moving arm bring Javelin tip down until at the same level as the free hand, bend free arm at the elbow (bringing hand toward chest) Pull the,  "Javelin arm" down and release the javelin into the ground (DO NOT move any other part of the body). Repeat 10 times. This is a basic start session. You can also get your athlete to stand with leg extended in front of body (oposite leg to throwing arm) with the javelin arm extended behind the athlete, move forward as if to walk forward as you raise over the extended leg (ankle) lower your free shoulder slightly and throw the Javelin as far as you can whilst keeping your body as upright as possable.
