Do your players know how to make the right decisions when defending - Choosing the right stage of defence for the situation? To make sure your players make the right defensive decisions in this session we cover the three stage of defence.
- Stage 1. Mark the player- they haven't got the ball yet but you can still man-mark them
- Stage 2. Your player's received the ball and now you're up close to make life difficult for them
- Stage 3. You're marking the space - anticipating the pass and preparing to drive in front to snatch it away
Structured drills and exercises will enable you to guide your players through the three stages of defence - creating defensive situations for your players where they'll have to make the right decision! Do they stay and mark the player? Do they make themselves look big like a cat in front of the player on the ball or do they drive in and try to make the interception?
